Scandi decor with a Xmas twist

With great pride I want to show you around my wonderful friend, Donna Caira’s home. It appeared in the November edition of Style At Home magazine. Donna’s children are exactly the same age as mine and are both at university now and her husband, Anthony has moved to Qatar, where he is  head pro at Education City Golf Club. They are juggling these changes, with the need to keep some sort of base in Scotland, with amazing ingenuity. Their current home is a down size for her and Anthony, and a stepping stone to their next big adventure. Why am I proud to show you round? Well I am very, very proud to have such a glamorous, talented friend for a start. Plus I am proud to showcase such talent and effortless style in Scotland. I love seeing the beauty of our country reflected in people’s homes.Donna has injected delightful hints of coorie cabins and simple Highland crofts into her modern, contemporary interior. The results are fun and original.I love the charcoal panelling she has installed behind the bed in the master bedroom and the simple, plywood fronted, fitted wardrobes, her husband made, depicted below, with its striking black metal mechanism are amazing. You will see all sorts of beautiful decorative additions around the house, many of which are made by Donna and are for sale. Her oversized paper stars, depicted above, are available all year round but at Christmas she is offering this gorgeous box of Scandi-style Xmas Decorations for a bargain £35Buy one NOW! It includes ceramic and paper stars and metal rings. Perfect for adding some cool minimal yule to your home this year.Donna is an experienced, successful designer. I have made her promise to help me with my next home: that is a done deal. She has also set up a wonderful typographic print business with her friend, Susan, called We Are Amused, you can find them here on Instagram. Several of the prints above and below are available through We Are Amused.I wrote about Donna’s previous home as well, for the world famous Decor8 Blog, amongst many other publications. Her soothing, minimal palette has enough drama to strike a chord with design lovers throughout the world. The results are calm and uncluttered, but never boring.
