Every year at this time, we put feelers out, looking for homes to shoot at Christmas to publish next December. If you have a home in Scotland that you feel really comes to life at Christmas, please, please drop us a line. That is what my friend Jo did. Here is her Edinburgh home. We shot it last Xmas, we had such a fun day and it has just appeared in the December edition of Ideal Home.
Jo really knows her stuff when it comes to both Christmas and Interiors generally. She has her own interior design service, Jo Tutton Lifestyle and Interiors. If you look carefully, I actually feel that what makes her home really special is her beautiful Art collection – she has a first class eye. Collecting art and the importance of, is a favourite subject of mine, read more about this here. Right now though, I really want to focus on Christmas, trees, stockings, mince pies, gifts and decorations.
I am looking for homes that pile in all the above, either with total abundance, or possibly with a more selective hand – minimalist homes can look stunning at Christmas – what could be more beautiful than a loft style apartment, with one piece of mistletoe hanging from the ceiling?
Your home might be a crumbling castle, a Victorian apartment or a modern semi, all I ask is that it comes to life when the decorations go up.
It could be a Highland hideaway, accessorised with Anta and Annie Sloan painted furniture or a back to the bricks city centre renovation, furnished, hopefully, with a mix of Friday Street finds and designer finds that you might have saved hard for.
I am in the process of re-launching Her Indoors as The Great Scottish Indoors, I felt this title was a bit more definitive and a lot more ‘what it says on the tin.’ I want to fly the flag and show off the fabulous design and amazing architecture of this beautiful country that we live in…
